About Me

I’m Jason Rodriguez (he/him).

I’m the Community & Product Evangelist at Litmus, which is a fancy way of saying that I write and speak a lot about email marketing, design, and development. I work hard to show people how to get the most out of their email, marketing, growing their businesses, and making genuine connections along the way.

Before Litmus, I lived the agency life as an email and web designer. I’ve been in the industry for the better part of a decade and have gained a thorough understanding and appreciation of the web and the technologies that power it. I’m an expert in HTML and CSS and a strong advocate for the open web, accessibility, and building inclusive communities online.

Along the way, I’ve written hundreds of thousands of words, including three self-published books and articles for industry publications like A List Apart and CSS-Tricks. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel around the world educating people about the web, email, and accessibility at conferences and workshops.

I live in Michigan with my wife, two daughters, and a growing collection of instruments (mostly ukuleles and a few guitars).

About This Site

Accessibility and Inclusion Statement

I believe that we all need to work on creating a more inclusive world. One that respects others, regardless of race, religion, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, physical appearance, or any other trait which can be used to characterize others.

Every effort is made to make this website inclusive, both through the underlying technology of the website and the language and ideas used in my writing. If you feel I’ve failed in some way, please let me know so that I can do better next time.

I strive to make my website as accessible as possible. Colors are tested for contrast, semantic markup is used to aid those using assistive technology, and I run accessibility tests anytime a major update is made. For those working with slower data connections or older devices, I try to limit file requests and resources to ensure everything loads quickly.

Technology

For the last 6+ years, this website has run on Jekyll, a wonderful little static site generator. The underlying markup is clean, semantic, and accessible HTML. Vanilla CSS is used to style things.

The typeface used is the excellent Avenir Next by Adrian Frutiger. If your system doesn’t have Avenir Next installed, it will fallback to whatever sans-serif your system uses.

Everything is hosted on GitHub Pages.
